The road to 1000km in 2014
After this mornings 21km ride, my odometer shows 780km so far for 2014. I didn’t have an odometer for most of last year so this is my first year of tracking my rides. It’s motivating to know that I’m almost at 1000km for the year with plenty of months left, hmm maybe I can try — read more

65.7km ride this morning
Perfect weather this morning for a nice long ride. Part of the route was riding on a street along the water and the view was breathtaking. Stopped for breakfast and for once I didn’t have a large meal but just a piece of banana bread and actually felt great riding home. If I do have — read more

One week with the Galaxy S5
It’s been a week since I made the move from iOS to Android, so from iPhone 5s to the Galaxy S5. First off, the similar naming schemes is quite confusing. I have enjoyed iOS but really wanted to give Android another shot as my last device was the Galaxy S2 and I wasn’t overly impressed. — read more

100km+ riding this past week
Have had a couple of good distant rides this past week. 70.5km last week Friday and 35km this morning. I do need to pace myself for the longer rides as I find using a lot more energy early on in the ride but then feeling fatigued near the end. — read more

27.5km ride this morning

Forecast rain, reality was just clouds
This morning the weather forecast called for rain, but I still set my alarm early just to see if the forecast would hold true. Too many times in the past I have not gotten up early for a ride only to wake up to a dry and sometimes even sunny morning. It was certainly cloudy — read more

66km ride today included 9% climb
Went for my longest ride of the year so far with a few friends. I knew there would be a mountain involved, guess I didn’t realise it would be a 2.3km 9% climb! I wasn’t prepared at all for this level of mountain training and found myself walking the last 500m. I’ll need to train — read more

25km ride, back to Strava
I’ve been using Endomondo for my rides but yesterday during a long walk noticed a discrepancy with the maximum speed, so decided to try Strava once again. Most, if not all, of my cycling friends use Strava but I always liked the auto pause feature of Endomondo. Not sure if it’s a recent addition to — read more

22.3km ride with my old yet new pedals
When I first got my road bike Feb last year, I had a very difficult time adjusting to the clip type pedals and shoes. I started riding on bike paths to try to get used to them, but inevitably every time I stopped, I fell over. I slowly learned to unclip before the actual stop, — read more
