Spinning the various aspects of technology

Many websites and services require two factor authentication (2FA) and using an app for this extra level of security is generally a more secure option than traditional text messages, unless of course that’s the only option which is still better than no additional measure of security to access your account other than a password.

Proton Authenticator is one of many options out there to support 2FA.  This app is free to use and does not require you to have an account to use the app.  Having a Proton account (free option available as well) does allow you to sync your codes across multiple devices so that convenience might be worth having an account.

Who is Proton?  They have information on their website about their organisation but in short, they were founded in 2014 in Switzerland by a team of scientists whose focus has been on privacy for a better internet.

You can learn more about Proton Authenticator and the company in general on their website.
