Spinning the various aspects of technology

The wearable market is still fairly new and while others have tried to penetrate the market, many in the industry are waiting for the Apple Watch to help bring mass adoption of such a technology. Apple usually brings an awareness of a product on a mass scale and this can yield additional sales for competitive devices as a byproduct.

A smart watch should work as an accessory for your smartphone, not as a replacement. Most current such watches don’t have their own SIM card for service so they are dependent on the mobile phones connection for voice and data services.

I’m sure I am not alone in pulling out my iPhone numerous times a day to glance for any new messages. The Apple Watch will, I hope, solve this problem for me. Rather than always taking out my phone, a simple glance at the watch should alert me of any unread notifications. At that point I can decide whether I need to use my phone to read and/or respond further, or if just reading the message on the watch is sufficient for the time being. This I think will be the key to the success of the watch, and of the wearable market.

This behaviour may also change the alert settings on my phone. For example, my current SMS setting is set for audible and vibration for each message. If the watch will vibrate for the alert, then perhaps I can change the phone alert to just audible.
