When I first got my road bike Feb last year, I had a very difficult time adjusting to the clip type pedals and shoes. I started riding on bike paths to try to get used to them, but inevitably every time I stopped, I fell over. I slowly learned to unclip before the actual stop, but clipping back in was still a struggle.
I noticed one day a fellow rider easily clipped into their pedals without even looking down, and the pedals seemed to be dual sided. I went to my bike shop and said, ok these pedals are nice and all but I’m not comfortable, are there any dual sided pedals? They showed me the mountain bike pedals, shown on the left in the picture above, and I was sold.

I’ve been riding with the mountain bike pedals until today. I have reached a level of comfort riding that I wanted to go back to the original pedals I purchased which were intended for a road bike. 22.3 km ride today with some friends and I’m happy to be riding with these pedals again.
Funny enough when I got the mountain bike pedals, I asked my bike shop if I should sell my original ones on eBay, they said no, you’ll be back to these eventually. They were right!
