This week is National Stuttering Awareness Week in the States. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed this week to bring awareness of stuttering to the general population. Only 1% of the population stutters, hence the mystery around stuttering.

The National Stuttering Association (NSA) is the largest self-help group in the States, with over 70 local chapters nationwide providing support, insight, and help to those who stutter. A member of the NSA recently was interviewed on Public Radio and discussed stuttering, both the truths and misconceptions.
