Spinning the various aspects of technology

Google Maps Mobile, version 1.5.1, for BlackBerry now includes support for GPS. This is particularly handy for the BlackBerry 8800, which has built in GPS. The default application on the BlackBerry 8800 to use with GPS is BlackBerry Maps. While the Maps program is ok, it does not offer a key feature available within Google Maps, which is to find a local business.

With the added GPS support for Google Maps, you can now find a local business based on your location. It will also provide driving directions to a destination from your GPS location, very useful in case you’re lost and don’t know what the starting point would necessarily be.

Google Maps Mobile is available from your BlackBerry browser at http://www.google.com/gmm.

Caution: Google Maps is a fairly data intensive application, so if you do not have a 25mb or higher data plan, please do not download this application.
