With the emergence of blogs for both personal and business information, how does one keep track without having to go to each individual website. Enter RSS technology. I myself am guilty of not taking advantage of this technology, until today that is. I follow many blogs related to technology, as well as some personal ones. Going to each site once, or more, per day has become tedious. I decided to check out what this RSS is all about.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Basically, it’s a way to bring website information to you, instead of you having to go to the website to retrieve it. I’ve started using Google Reader today and am thus far impressed. I simply added all of my blogs and created folders to keep them organized. The “reader” looks on these sites for updates, and then brings them back to me throughout the day. Now, instead of having to go to multiple sites, I keep my Google Reader window open and information is delivered to my reader inbox.
There are many RSS readers, but Google Reader seems to do the job just fine for me. In case you’re wondering, you do not need to have a Gmail, or Google Account, to use Google Reader. Additional information can be found at http://reader.google.com.
