Ever wonder where the term QWERTY keyboard comes from? I was with a friend yesterday who noticed my new BlackBerry Pearl (more to come about the Pearl in an upcoming post) and commented that it had a nice qwerty keyboard. I pointed out the Pearl, 8100, model uses SureType technology and actually has 2 letters per key.
QWERTY refers to a device with a full size keyboard, but why QWERTY? Take a look at your keyboard, now look at the first 6 letters on the top row of letters, from left to right. That’s right, it spells out QWERTY! And here you thought it was some fancy technical term.
