Spinning the various aspects of technology

For anyone with a wireless router, I would recommend disabling your SSID, as a security measure. SSID broadcasts your network's name to anyone within 150 to 250 feet. This means that someone now knows you have a wireless network, and can perhaps try to hack it, meaning gain unauthorized access. By disabling the SSID, information about your router is not broadcast. It becomes virtually invisible, and only people who know the SSID name can attempt to gain access.

This is only one step in protecting your wireless network. Another two steps would be to enable encryption and change the SSID name.
